Transmission extractiom
Hi,
does anyone has some good advice of how to pull the transmission out of a 2000, xj8, 3.2 with a seized engine? So far I've tried pouring WD into the spark plug holes, and taking out the camshafts to no avail. The engine won't turn even with a gigantic breaker bar. No chance to access the flywheel bolts. There is a lot of burned oil ion the pistons and on the camshaft. One upper chain tensioner was damaged. So how should Iproceed?
Thanks

I pulled the gearbox out of one of my parts cars with a seized engine (1999 VDP) by tilting the gearbox/engine enough and leaving the torque converter on the engine.
Years later the torque converter is still on the engine in the parts car!!!!!!!!!!!
Tilt down and straight back.

Thanks, I`ll try.
my spare transmission sits also on a car I bought for parts. I got it cheaply because the engine was toast. Never looked into it until now. Now my running car (350000) km has transmission problems: :ugly sounds, hesitiation before getting into gear, reverse works , then just the 4th in limp mode, which actually works fine .
I am no transmission expert, so maybe the converter on my runner could still be Ok?
Advice appreciated!

I just used the converter from the faulty gearbox that came out of the original car.
It just had the common broken forward drum but I replaced the drum in the replacement gearbox before I installed it in the car.
