Sounds like the linear switch is defective or mis adjusted. You stated you changed shifter. Could be related. Has to have an XJR shifter on XJR. Check and see if you have a P0705 code stored. If so, it is linear switch related.

I confirmed with the seller 3 times that shifter was coming out from a XJR

so I found it is called "limp mode" now, car cant shift out of 2nd gear

did it come complete w/ linear switch on side? If so that one could be bad. You may want to check your connections if good swap that part. The one where shift cable attaches.

those switches are known to fail causing the behavior you have.

If the shift position marks do no t light in any position, switch is suspect.

BTW 2000 year models had a bulletin re: failure. Is your check engine light staying on. If so check codes if not there could be a pending code. Look for P0705.

yesyes, none of gear lights lid up and i called my local jaguar dealer and mark a English gentleman told by most likely something to do with the linear switch or misalignment of the shifter cable.
