There is a simple and correct answer. Make sure the brand and type you are interested in using meets the Jag specification. If the spec is not in the owners manual, it's in JTIS.

Having just done it in my x350 and after getting a headache researching, I took the car to my local ZF transmission specialist and said "use a quality but cost effective transmission oil."
Take it to a Jag indy or a reputable specialist transmission shop and let them figure it out. It will cost a few bucks more than Jiffy Lube.

The problem with asking a question like that is that there are probably a hundred fluids on the market that are compatible with that transmission.
I ended up with the one that was easily and cheaply available from Wal Mart.

Any fluid which BMW uses in the 5hp24 will do... I'm using Mannol AG52. Cheap and cheerful. Also used by many other users of the 5hp24 (Audi, BMW, ...).
