Transmission lurch problem?2000 XJ8 Vanderplas
Ok....Last night at a stoplight my transmission in my 2000 XJ8 Vanderplas slipped and then caught. Thought I got rear ended?! Pulled into gas station and checked it out....No fluid leaking, NO warning lights....Still drives but very slow like a bad slip....Still have full power in reverse...What are my options? I had my car towed home to prevent any futher damage... Is this a fatal sign for my tranny or is this a 'flash' issue and easily fixed? Please help, its my only car!

Low fluid or a broken forward ('A'drum) will cause that fault.
I had a customer's car for the same fault and 2 other shops (one the Jag dealer) told him he needed a new gearbox but it turned out to be a cooler line leaking and low fluid level.
A good used gearbox might be a less costly option.
You can replace the 'A'drum if you have the tools/skills.
Check the fluid level and go from there.
