Tricky rattle/noise to diagnose

I have a 1999 XJ8 LWB Sovereign. It has done 150,000kms and I have just had the Timing Chain tensioners (kit installed) replaced as well as the Varaible Valve Timing. The vehicle still has a noticeable 'rattly whoosh' noise under load at gear change and back off. The noise is most noticeable at cold start up and for the first 15 minutes or so but is still just discernable when warm. I can't get the noise when the car is stationary and revved. Any helpful suggestions would be most welcome!!
In all other regards the vehicle is pristine and greatly loved!

You have a tricky one there Anthony. It sounds from your description that it might be combustion noise; so for a while try a different petrol. It's not going to cost anything in either money or time, and will eliminate one thing. If different petrol does make a difference to the noise, then at least you're in the right area. You would then start looking at faults in the knock sensor (if it has one) as an example, or anything affecting ignition timing/knock-ping. Even wrong spark plugs.
It's so hard to make any diagnosis just from a description, but one enterprizing contributor posted an audio file of his irritating noise. I wonder if he ever got shot of it?
