Default Trunk/boot strut question

Hi all,

If working correctly, should the trunk struts stop the lid from slamming if you just give it a tug?

The struts on mine will hold it open just fine, but I have to lower it manually to prevent a nasty slam shut. Not a problem for me, but my wife never remembers...

Thanks
Bill

Shouldn't slam shut, the struts should take the weight all the way through

Struts go out over time.
Had same problem as you, so I just replaced from and rear (5 min work).
You will be amazed about the difference.
