Default Typical Places to Leak Oil

I replaced both valve cover gaskets when I did my tensioners and I'll replace my oil pressure when I source a 22mm deep socket but wonder if there are any other places that might be leaking oil. The oil on my pan looks like it is coming from the Oil Pressure switch but the bell housing has oil on it.

Please tell me the rear seals never leak. The transmission was replaced two years ago by the dealer so I hope that if the rear seal was an issue they would have replaced it then.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Eric

My Rear Main Seal on my 1999 XJ8L is seeping but a few drips is all I get when I park.

My forward drum ('A'drum) in the gearbox is still the original at 108,000 miles so when I replace the gearbox components I'll address the seal. (it will fail eventually??)

It's not a common leak but it does happen. The worst I saw was a porous block when I worked at the dealer. The oil was seeping through the aluminum block in the cavity below the intake manifold under the 'diamond shaped' rubber blanking plug and down the back of the engine in the bell housing area. I called TECH LINE and they authorized a replacement engine under factory warranty.

THAT WOULD BE THE WORST!!!!!
Very UNCOMMON but documented.

Default oil leak

Similar story; replaced the cam cover gaskets when I had to repair blown head gasket recently, started leaking oil. When I investigated, seemed as though the gasket was undersize. The spacers on the fixing bolts projected through the cam cover, so insufficient pressure on the gasket to stop oil leaking. I put an o ring between the rubber sealing ring and the upper part of the spacer to provide more sealing pressure. Seems to have worked.
Remember to put a dab of gasket sealant on the little pads where the head joins the front cover.

There is a hex plug on the rear of the engine block above the rear main seal
that has been known to leak due to coming loose.
