RE: unlock and lock buttons dont work on keyless entry, among other problems
Whats up Chad. More Chads are always good....haha.

For starters, on BMWs I've heard of low batteries causing strange electrical gremlins, one of them being the alarm going off for no reason. I'm not familiar with Jaguar's wiring though.

The "door open" and lights issue is your door microswitch failing, that I'm pretty certain on. Just a small switch on each door that tells the car which doors are open and shut.

Chad, As i said in the pm, its in the latch assembly, pull the door panel, remove the rods that attach to it, the electricasl connector, and the bottom bolt for the window rail to move it out of the way. Now remove the 3 torx bolts by the latch assembly on the side of the door around the latch and then work the old latch assembly out and install the new one

door open indicator
I have the same problem - dash says driver door open. So the remote lock won't work - just makes a long beep sound when I press the button. Door will lock with the key - makes the same protesting long beep sound but locks car. It makes sense that it is the micro switch. I called the local Jag dealer (in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada) - tells me I need to replace the whole door latch and that it is $500!!! Looked on-line and found a door switch for $26. Is this all I need to buy?

Thanks,
Trevor

keyless remote
The problem with the remote can be one of two things, weak batteries or dirty contacts. You can take the remote apart to change batteries and when you do seporate the button from the circuit board and clean the board and the underside of the buttons.

Check Fuse
I had a similar problem with my remote but, it also the master lock button didn't work either. It was the fuse under the rear seat behind the passenger seat. I can't remember which fuse though. Someone else might know.
