Update on the 2003 VDP/SC with 42k miles
Update
So I bought the 2003 Vanden Plas Supercharged, at least I thought I bought it!
Wanna read a story? Think of the worst shady business salesmen you can think of and you have Eastside Auto Sales, Inc | Home.
I was interested in purchasing a Jaguar and being from out of state I sent out for a PPI. After receiving the report from a reputable Jaguar shop, the dealer and I agreed on a price Michae l( i received a text confirmation). A few hours passed he then asked me to send a copy of my DL and my CC#. I was not comfortable texting my CC # online so I called him to give it to him, no reply, I called again no reply. I finally got someone on the phone and they informed me that someone else just made an offer although the dealer and I had an agreement and I was asked to send my CC.
Remember he never informed me that someone else wanted the car, so he sued my PPI to inform the other potential buyer and they made a deal although i had an agreement.
! This is a very dishonest dealership and I DO NOT recommend them. In the end, I was out 300 dollars and wasted 15 hours of my time, finding the car, finding the mechanic to inspect the car, finding a reputable shipping company, and talking to my insurance so that I could get coverage for the car.
I wish I knew the law, I would know if I have a case against that dealership
Moral of the story: DON'T BUY From Eastside Auto Sales, Inc | Home.

From my understanding regarding purchases, unless you had it in writing, your SOL. He should of sent over a purchase agreement for you to sign with a time frame for how long it was good, before asking you for money. This way you have the time to get your affairs together and not worry about paying until you arrived with a cashiers check or by using your CC. You were right not to send him your CC, I do CCA (credit card authorization) forms all the time with hotels for my people, but I have a legal document I send them.
I agree, that was some underhanded ****...he used your offer against the other guy, its technically illegal how it was done, but what proof can you provide? Sorry about the outcome, but the loss could of been worse.

Sorry to hear that Terry007. I would Call the Owner or Manager Eastside Auto Sales, Inc an Demand that they return the $300. If that doesn't work I would inform BBB.
I've purchased many cars in my Day that were out of State and many of the purchases were validated with a PPI. What was the point of Eastside Auto Sales, Inc taking the vehicle to the Jaguar Shop for that PPI ? You paid for it so you should have had the vehicle. I don't like texting my CC info as well. So that excuse about you not texting your CC# doesn't Fly. They used your PPI to Secure the sale to the other Buyer. That being the Case GET YOUR MONEY.
Good Luck
Terry

Sorry to hear about that, I hope you get your PPI cost back at least. I've purchased a few cars long distance and some have gone smoother than others, with a couple of regrets along the way. If the dealer was willing to treat you like that it wouldn't surprise me if there were faults he didn't disclose that a ppi wouldn't reveal.
