Hi
Here is a thread on Front Springs R&I extracted from the JTIS that might help (has illustrations & instructions).

Although it shows using special tools, you still might find it useful. Look at post# 1.

Thanks jim for the help. Im trying to do the method your describing.

I have the upper control arm in. the lower control arm in. The rotor connected to both the upper and lower balljoints.

The spring pan is off the lower control arm.

I am trying to raise the spring pan with the spring seated to it with a jack and then screw in the 6 bolts connecting to the lower control arm. I have 3 bolts connected already now I just need the other 3. Can't get them aligned to the hole.

Any tips?

Might disconnect the spring pan tomorrow and try again using multiple guide pins like JTIS states. Was using a screw driver to kinda force it, if that makes sense.

Any tips is welcomed. Thanks to all the help already

I again caution that the method you are using is extremely dangerous as the spring can pop out towards you as you compress it. You should get or make the special spring compressor tool that hooks into the frame. There are several great posts on making this tool on this forum. They call the springs "widow makers" for good reason. Don't chance it.

I bought 3" long bolts and cut the heads off and used them as pins - it really helps aligning the spring pan. The threads in the lower control arms cross thread easily so you have to line up the spring pan carefully and hand thread the bolts . As the pan comes up to the control arms I replaced the pins one at a time with the bolts until they were all in

I found a forum thread on making the Spring compression tool:

I agree with rocklandjag that you should make sure you use a proper coil spring compression tool. Safety first.

You can use some longer bolts(4 inches), with a nut on it; screw the bolt thru the pan and arm, on 3 or 4 holes on corners, then come with the nuts up, pressing the pan to the lower arm. After you fit the first 3 bolts, take these guide-bolts out, and put the other originals in place. The Mina springs looks shorter, but also might be stronger. I compressed mines out the car and then introduced them in the place;it was a 2 days job, without the proper tools.
