Value 02 XJR Sedan
I have an 02 XJR 4dr US model.
Black on black. 65k miles nice vehicle maintained by British and German Vehicle Mechanic.
Some stone chips up front otherwise excellent body. Clean interior no damage clean engine compartment and trunk area. Original vehicle.
Rear view mirror was replaced before I bought Car doesn't switch for dimming. Antenna makes noise when extending had a switch installed to stop it from moving. I only listen to CD or MP3 through tape adapter.
Nearly new Goodyear eagles. 1 year old NAPA battery top of the brand.
Rebuilt ASI Throttle Body New Spark plugs runs well.
Ideas on value would be appreciated.
Thinking of selling as It is rarely driven.

Hmmm, always difficult to price a car unseen, low miles are in its favor, could be priced anywhere from $5,000-$10,000
If the timing tensioners haven't been done, deduct $2,500, and deduct another $500 for the stone chips, antennae and rear view mirror.
Obviously really clean examples sell for high dollar, examples with some problems can be hard to fetch good money.
Check out www.bringatrailer.com for clean example comparisons,

There's a 2000 65K mile example that bid to $8,800 but didn't meet the reserve.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-jaguar-xjr-9/
And a 2003 45K mile example that sold for $18,000
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-jaguar-xjr-4/
Check eBay, cargurus, autotrader, craigslist, etc, for a mixture of comparisons.
What do you think it should sell for?

Ah, interesting stuff, thanks for posting.
It may have the MKII tensioners, but I don't think the MKIII metal tensioners were fitted until 2003 and on..........so much confusion over this, I read that the metal tensioners were not fitted until the 4.2 variant. I also don't remember, or am confused about, when they upgraded the single-row timing chain to the dual-row with corresponding dual-row toothed CVVTs. I guess the only sure-fire way is to remove a valve cover.

When I bought my 02 xjr, I wasn't sure what tensioners had. And on top of that, bought it site unseen on an online dealer auction. Anyways, got the car to my house. Took off a cam cover. Luckily, it has the 3rd gen timing parts. Which was fitted on engines built after August 13, 2001.
