need help with changing my valve cover gasket on my 2000 jaguar xjr, theres a leak coming from the valve cover I replaced it with new seals and grommets and gasket but my breather hose or I think it's called crankcase ventilation at the hose part not the actual crankcase ventilation broke in half would that cause the valve cover to leak ?

 

Probably not. You may have a crack in the cover.

 

do u recommend putting oil on the seals when installing them on the cover

 

I never do that. Just RTV at the timing cover/ head joint.

 

yea I looked at my valve cover and it has a piece on the side that seems to be shaved off I'll send a picture when I get it back off
