Default Valve cover gasket leaking quickly....

hi everyone, I just had a brand new valve cover gasket put in about 2 years ago and it began leaking recently. About a year ago I decided to change the valve cover because my old's paint was chipping, so I purchased a used one in better condition, took off the cover myself and put the gasket onto the new valve cover, did I maybe not put it all the way on correctly?? DO they tend to leak so quickly??? thanks...

AFAIK they don't have a significant reputation for leaking.

Mine was bone dry at 90K miles but I had the cam cover off for another reason. Installing the new gasket was very exasperating (for me, at least) as I didn't have six hands. The fact that the new gasket doesn't leak is as much luck as anything else, IMHO. I really figured that I bollixed the job.... but I guess I didn't.

Where is your leaking? At the rear?

Cheers
DD

Perhaps it's been powder coated and warped in the process? Does the coating on the 'new' cover look like the Jaguar original?
