Default VVT Removal

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the VVT actuator off of 2000 Jaguar XJ8? I am receiving code P1384 along with tapping when I press the accelator. I have changed the vvt solenoid already now I need to change the actuator. I am consider taking the VVT actuator off and leaving it off to see the the code and the tapping/clicking noise come back.

The two issue I see that can cause P1384 is VVT mechanical failure and low oil pressure. Could I get low oil pressure on one side and not the other?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Go up a weight in oil and the tapping may stop.

. . . or try a can of RESTORE before the oil change. That will tell you if a heavier weight oil is going to solve the issue.
