What are the 2 bottom buttons for?
The S button is for sport mode. This simply holds more revs before changing up, it does not change suspension settings. The one on the left is turn on the option for cruise control, which is then operated by the buttons on the right of the steeing wheel. They are odd in as much as as if they are down then they are turned off. They will light up in operation.
In my car the Sport button also means that you pull away in first gear rather than second - useful for when you want to show some pimply-faced youth in his noisy hot hatch what a big old (supercharged ) luxo-barge can do!
I turn it on if I want to shower obstreperous back seat passengers with my hot coffee in the drink ejector built into the console lid. It works extremely well. It also works well in the X350 models with the four zone ac/heat option and the same ejector device. No need to ask how I know.
(I didn't know the XJR transmission had a second reverse ratio. Learn something every day!)
