Default What is the best place to buy a new or updated idler pulley? 2000 XJR

My idler pulley doesn't feel "fresh" anymore.

I was spinning it after taking it off as part of my current job of doing my primary tensioners and rails and while it isn't terrible, it is off right now, and now therefore is a good time to do it.

Any suggestions of part #s and where to buy this?

Jeff, from vin#F00035, AJ82266 is a metal idler pulley number listed on JPEC. I am not sure about availability, but I would think it would be, and may even be in stock at some parts supplier.

I should have specified that I was talking about the one for the super charger belt, but at $20-30 I'll get one of these too while I'm at it.

Thank you for the quick reply!

Jeff, that number is: from vin# F00035 NCC7740AE. But, it says, "NLA". Somebody may have one in their stock, I hope.

I think that is the number for the belt, not the pulley itself...

Is this the correct part : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gates-36270-...290600&vxp=mtr

or is this one better: http://www.stockwiseauto.com/product...a21eac4b1aba70

I just emailed the forum member for the super charger idler pulley and will buy that from him, and then buy one of the two above for the serpentine as soon as I get a recommendation if one of these is a better brand than the other.

I figure I might as well put in the new wearing parts while I'm at it.

Jaguarcraver, thank you for the help

Question

I have often wondered if Gates made an idler or pulley that would work on our cars. You may try the Ford part numbers as well for a cross reference.

Cheapest thing to do is press the bearing out and replace it, shouldn't be no more than $15

Any bearing supplier can take the number off the bearing and supply you one

The best part about replacing the bearing is that there is no confusion as to which pulley configuration to buy as there have been several over the years.

I am at work now so can look up the bearing part no. 10-6303 2RS made by Koyo, same bearing goes in the tensioners, it is only the plastic idlers that cause a problem and need to be replaced but these were only used on early cars and if I remember correctly was only the aux belt idler and all supercharged idlers were steel

I went back and spun and tried to rattle all the pulleys, this is the only one that appears to have anything less than perfect play and sound.

so this is the only one I think I am interested in right now.

Is says NCC7753AD on the wheel itself.

AUTOZONE 231016 is for the belt tensioner pulley for the drive belt for the Jaguars, note this bolt must be turned clockwise to loosen!!! Its a reverse thread bolt

AUTOZONE 231048 Is for the Jaguar Large IDLER PULLEY AND FOR THE SUPERCHARGER IDLER PULLEYS XKR 4.0

oem
NCC7753AD = 231048

Just to let everyone know that a lot of sites list the Dayco 89016 for the supercharger idler, which doesn't fit. The belt rides right on the edge of the roller. They also list the Gates 36270 for the supercharger idler, which also doesn't fit.

Because figuring out which parts fit, and which don't, is still useful. Or will no one ever have this issue again?

Thanks, that's useful to know! Are you saying that the 231048 works for both idlers, the accessory AND the supercharger?

For the archives :

For the accessory belt, DAYCO 7PVK2345 fits great. For the supercharger, it is Dayco 5080515.
