Graham,
YEH, I'm Stupid Eh ??, Misread the price at first, but by then already committed myself to it.
WE>>>>LL it is only money. One of my inbred faults is I am very impulsive, a sort of "GO FOR IT" attitude. I always wondered what that Compartment was for, and went to a "Coffee and Cars" in Houston, on Saturday (Should I say, with my Chrysler Crossfire SRT6) and during my walk around looking at all the other cars, saw a 1999 Jaguar XJR which had the Toolkit fitted, and spoke to the owner who told me he had the car from new. It was the only Jaguar I saw there, and from memory, the only one last time I went.
His was a great looking car, in Fantastic condition. Maybe some of us Houston Jaguar owners should join him there next time. ??? I MAY join him there myself, next month.

Well it's not really the reason he bought it ... but he can always pretend that it might save him from a tow some day.

I can see it now. Next month you're both at "Coffee and Cars" in Houston with fitted tool kits and a third XJ owner turns up and he hasn't got one. It'll destroy him.

Never even thought about that one, BUT he COULD have been as stupid as me, and bought it, then I wouldn't look so stupid Eh ??
To the third XJ owner that turns up, Welcome to the Jaguars at the "Coffee and Cars" Houston, what do you mean you haven't got an underhood toolkit, we thought everyone had one. LOL
From my point of view, it just makes the car look a bit more complete. Had the XJ8 VDP about 4 months now, have got it down to just 2 electrical problems, which will be sorted tomorrow when I take it into the dealers.

As far as a compartment for storing beer goes, I took all the plastic out of the inside of the center console / armrest drilled a couple holes in the ac piping and stuck a premade plastic tray from an ice maker in it. It will fit a 6 pack perfectly as well as keep them ice cold.

A GOOD customization, I think ?????
AND finally, I have now resolved my 2 remaining electrical issues, by taking it to Momentum Jaguar SW Houston, who did a great Job. (Received complements on the condition of the car) I now have a car that is as good as I can get it, maybe not prestine, BUT close, and only 35,000 miles on the clock. YEHHHHHHHHH Thanks to Forum members who helped me, with info and bits, in order to achieve this.
Just have to keep on top of it now, and keep it that way.

You don't think we're going to accept a claim like that without photographic evidence?

Always wanted to use that one!
