Default What could be rattling over bumps in the radio/climate-control area?

The sound seems to be from behind the climate-control unit, but no physical pressure to anything makes the rattle go away. It is somewhat loud like the sound of a metal part bumping a plastic panel and is thus quite annoying (I live in NY, so there are bumps/potholes everywhere.)

Is there a way to take apart the radio-area of the dash without removing the whole center console cover? (as that appears to be a big job)

I think you may need to bite the bullet and pull off the center console to find out what's going on. It's not that big a deal - I did it in maybe a half hour, somebody with nimble fingers could probably do it in half. Then you can reach around and try to feel if anything is loose. Actually, probably should have someone else drive the car while you sit in the passenger seat and investigate.
