Unleashed the Beast within...

At work, printing $75K in checks when the printer throws an error code. Toner cartridge is dead. Thought I had another. Nope. Nearest store is 100 miles away 1-way. It's 2:48P and board meeting (thus approval of bills) is at 6:00P. Off I flew.

Back by 5:18. New cartridge inserted, printer fires, checks printed, then I generate a few expenditure reports. Finished by 5:58P. Nobody knew the difference.

The Jag saved me, plain-and-simple. First time I've run a near constant 100mph for an hour then repeated same. Easy Peasy.

Triple request for the link. I have a set but the proper color would make me smile.

Good job!....did you have any problems with your 'trapese' bushes?
Are all your UJ's in good nick?
You lower pendulim inner bushes OK?
Outer lower hub carrier bearings in good condition?
Main front 'A' frame bushes OK?

Before you do that, you could also check Welsh and some other suppliers to see if you could get an OEM part for less than the dealer charges.

Good luck.

BTW did the dealer charge you for the diagnosis? The dealer here charges $189 just to drop the car off! Also, I see you're in Wisconsin, what dealer did you go to? I have a place in Madison and have been to the Jaguar dealer on the beltline - they seem to be a typical dealership - $120/hr bench rate, high estimates for time and parts.
Fields, on the south beltline.

To be fair, they have always found the problem and fixed it properly; sometimes below the estimate, and they will wiggle if asked. They also have a savings program to save a bit. They have been professional and competent.

The service manager, Mick, has a delightful English accent.

Refitted the front wheels after having new Pirelli P Zero 99Y s to match the ones fitted to the rear at the end of October. I then removed the windscreen wiper, scuttle panel and the three panels over the false bulk head so as to be ready for the new front screen in the morning.

Put a fresh battery on and fired her up after 6 months in storage, ready for some summer trips after a few little things like an oil change and a cut and buff.

Default Some Success

After installing the SCM i tried like the dickens to program my lone remote. Thanks again for the advice on valet mode. I can get the red light to flash and the original beeps but it will not program. Tested remote but just at a local auto parts store. It's a challenge working out the kinks but i'm learning a lot. Last attempt i made sure the car battery was fully charged and had performed the hard reboot by touching the Neg and Pos leads together. I know it sounds stupid but the left side passenger door light is not working. Could this be related?

Default Dash rings

Got the interior a bit more detailed.
Bought the rings in the UK.
Extremely pleased with the result for the larger gauges and the clock, but the jury is still out on the switches.
Next up: cleaning the leathers.

Check fuse number 7 in the lower part of rear seat in left hand fusebox (15 amp fuse).
Body processor module (battery supply for solenoids, lamps and motors).

The remote fob was not working when that fuse failed on our 2001 XJ8.

also check the passenger door courtesy light bulb to see if it needs replacement.

Checked all the fuses with no luck but will try the bulb next. Thanks for the advice.

I had the car washed, I then applied some polish then I cleaned the aerial. I also glued the 3rd brake light back on after I discovered it had fell off whilst I closed the rear sun blinds. That is the rattle I've had the last few weeks.
I'm looking at my beautiful car right now, sparkling in the evening sun.
