Default What to do with a dead cat? " engine swap"

As mentioned in the previoous post my engine has issues with a timing chainbreaking. I can't find a decent replacement engine. What engine will drop into the engine bay with the least amount of trouble? Does Ford have a 4 L overhead cam engine like the Jag in any other model?

Guess this has turned into a private conversation.

Your engine is an AJ27 and can be swapped with any other AJ27 which ran from '99 to '02, XJ8 or XK8. There should be lots of engines available. Swapping 'other' engines, while is possible, will result in significant labor cost.

Here is a discussion to start with:

There are many compatable engines on eBay at the moment.
