Default Wheels again! Can you fit 15" on a 308

I've seen an XJ300 with 15" Lattice alloys that looks fantastic.
Does anyone know if it's possible to fit them on an XJ308?
The gain in ride quality would be great on our terrible British roads.

Any thoughts appreciated!

The X308 97-03 (16-20 inch wheel) pattern is 5 x 120.65 (5x4.75)
The X300 86-93 (15-17 inch wheel) and 94-96 (16-18 inch wheel) pattern is 5 x 120.65 (5x4.75)
...so I would say yes, they will fit barring the backset. But always measure twice, ...you know the saying...CYA

Are you 100% sure they were 15" lattice wheels? There was a 15" and 16". I know that XJS starfish 15" rims do not fit over the brake caliper of the X300, so a safe assumption is that all 15" don't fit the V8 cars, as I believe they have the same brakes as the earlier 6/V12 cars

As far as I know, the 16" lattice wheels were only originally put on the 1993-94 XJ12. XJS cars had a 15" lattice.

the teardrops from the 40 fit if you have the small brakes.

325mm from 99 and up XJR and some other XJ8s is a no-go.

Default Thanks

Thanks for this - I think I will take the car to try the wheels before I commit!

Hi mintyminty,

Before you purchase 15-inch wheels, check to see what tire/tyre options are currently available. In the U.S., high-profile 15-inch tires have become scarce, with the only options being lower quality or very expensive (e.g. the Pirelli reissues). This became a problem when we owned a '93 XJ40, so I replaced the original 15-inch wheels with 16-inch wheels from an X300. At the time, 16-inch tire options were plentiful. I don't know if that is still true, with the industry-wide evolution to larger wheels and lower-profile tires.

One thing to be aware of is that some of the 15-inch jaguar wheels were for sized for metric tyres, and those tyres may be impossible to find today or in the future.

It is true that 15-inch wheels with higher-profile tires provides a more comfortable ride on a Jaguar saloon, but the 16-inch wheels with correspondingly lower-profile tires provide nearly as good a ride with noticeably better handling.

Cheers,

Don
