Where is the trans fluid dip stick?? How to change Radiator fluid?
OK,
seriously, where is this thing?? I looked for the trans dip stick because I would like to inspect the fluid and could not find it. Am I really that blind?
Also, what is the proper procedure to change the radiator fluid?? I picked up the 50/50 mix at my jag dealer already.
Thank you in advance for your help

There is no dip stick for the tranny on your model. (Really, I'm not kidding!)

Here is some info on coolant flush: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...t-flush-34479/

I drained and filled my tranny 3 times, got about 4 quarts out per try, but mine is an XJR with the Merc tranny with a drain plug. I made my own dipstick out of a choke cable housing. My fluid at 60K was very dark.

Also, check your timing chain tensioners ASAP! This is VERY important!

Nice looking car! We have the same rims.

The date code on the motor says it was made 3 days after they started installing the upgraded tensioners. At some point I will check them though...

The coolant from Jaguar is not "premixed" - so you need to pick up some distilled water. I just drain the radiator and take a look at what comes out -- look in the recovery tank to see if it is clean ....mine was fine .... no flush ...refill.
The XJR transmission uses a different fluid then the non SC cars.
Both transmissions use fluid with many additives -- The fluid is designed to be highly detergent and to hold suspended particles ........... so by design the fluid will look dirty in short order ....... You really can't go by the color.
Both transmissions need to have the correct fluid at the correct level. Having the fluid level properly checked at some point would probably be a good idea .... I have had mine checked ....... original fluid at 55k.
I may change mine this summer. My mercedes wagon is at 100k and I may do them both at the same time since they have the same transmission and I have the correct fluid on hand.
