Default Who's X308 has been upset by the cold weather?

Hi all, in addition to my "What don't you like about your X308" Thread I thought I'd ask this. The only reason why is because this morning mine said a firm NO! to going out in the cold.

I started it up, and it ran rough as if missing a cylinder. The computer said: Gearbox Fault, ASC Unavailable, Engine Failsafe Mode. Then when I tried giving it some gas it stalled. I restarted it and more of the same, when putting into gear would only crawl and give me nothing more. I left it idling like this for a while to see if it might warm up but it continued like this until I switched it off.

I do hope this is just a cold weather thing, as it was in deep snow and it is rather cold here today.

What's your experiences?

Well I moved from south Texas (Houston) to Kansas City, and my 99VDP doesn't really care for the cold weather either... It's not too bad though. It starts, but after sitting outside (no garage) in 15deg weather, it cranks quite a bit longer before it fires up. I usually let is run for about 10~15min before even getting into it. Other than that, the LED display is in really SLOW motion when cold... Heheh...
BTW, Im using 5w30 Mobil 1. Should I switch to something else for the winter?

Perhaps "all you need to do" is disconnect, clean, and reconnect every electrical plug and socket in the car ..... I have a feeling that is the cause of a lot of the grief in these cars. Of course, better to have done it in warm weather!

LOL Well I went outside earlier on to show my Pal what it was doing and guess what? Yep, you guessed it, the car ran perfectly without any issues. I agree with Boomer, a electrical deep clean is a good plan, but a lengthy one!

Hi Stu, mine has ran rough as if missing a cylinder for a while when it is cold and then was doing it when hot so I have just had a Lamber Sensor replaced and it seems to be working fine now. Total cost £423.00 which I dont think is too bad really when the part was £380.

I live in the DFW, Texas area and I've had no issues. She actually loves the cold dense air.

Hi Stu, I live in Ottawa Canada where temps are below 0 degC for most of the winter. This is third winter I've been thru with my 2003 X308 and it handles it very well. I put on snow tires, keep it in a garage, and apart from an intermittent no heat issue (think this is the additional heater pump) it has been very good - especially as this was previously a Los Angeles car!!! There is a little bit of hesitancy at start up if it's been very cold overnight or not run every day, but that's all.
Cheers,
Tony

Hi Stu
Mine sat out in the elements for a fortnight and, luckily for me fired up nicely yesterday morning for the joyous return to work! I think its a case of getting used to the random "features" that Jaguar ownership blesses us with

I have never had any problems with the cold and my Jaguars - The seat heaters work well and the car warms up quickly.

Also have a dedicated set of snow tires for it -- although its not my first choice for winter driving.
