window doesn't work as before after jump
Does anyone have any input on this. I mistakenly left my key in the "on position" for, maybe an hour and a half and when I went to start the car, of course the battery was very low and I couldn't start it, I had a guy give me a jump, this was the first time I've had to do this in this car. The car started fine, but it said "system fault" or something like that and said to put on my brake and my parking brake, which I did, and the warning went away. I noticed though that when I tried putting the window up, I had to hold the button for it to go all the way up instead of just hitting it once and it would go all the way up. I thought maybe after I turned the car off when I got where I was going that when I started it again maybe it would reset and work as it did before, but it didn't. So, I don't really understand why this would do this, Anyway, what was it about getting my car jumped that would change the way the window works, and what can I do about it?
This is the X308 98’-03’ XJ section. You need the X350/358 section of the forum. The window fix is to time all 4 windows. With the engine running and everything else off so you can hear. With the drivers window press and continue to hold the down button even after it’s all the way down, you’ll hear a soft click from inside the door. Then right afterwards hold the up button for the same window until you hear another soft click from the door. Once that’s done, the auto up/down feature should work again. If it doesn’t, repeat the same process until the window goes up and down with the one step feature. Once you get that right, repeat it for all the other windows.
