Default Windshield sun screen

What windshield sun screen do you recommend for a 1998 Jaguar XJ8. Thanks, Allen

Here in TX where the temperature seems equal to the surface of the sun this week (105 as I type this), I just use a generic one from any of the auto parts stores that is the correct width and then cut it down to height to fit the Jag. It's such a short windshield compared to modern cars. $10-20 at your local auto parts house. Heck, H-E-B sells really good ones too.

I have an official Jaguar one for my XF that's made of some kind of silver-coated hardboard. Its a perfect fit, but other than that I don't like it because it seems to absorb and re-radiate more heat than it blocks. I much prefer the ones made from mylar bubble-wrap kind of material which is what I use in all my other cars. It's been fifteen years since I bought the one in the XJ8 and it doesn't have any sort of label on it, but I just got one at a local auto parts supply and was lucky to pick the one that fit just right. It was a good one because its only now starting to need a little viagra. I'll be curious to read if others post a good fit recommendation because it'll need replacement soon.

I recently bought sun screens (plural) for my new 2024 Mustang. I found a vendor on Amazon that sold some for the side and rear windows as well as the front. They actually have suction cups that hold them up. No idea if there are any made like that for the XJ8 but they are awesome! Just an idea you might search for.

I use WeatherTech TSO733 for the windshield and rear window. I just turn the one going in the back window upside down so that the “mirror dip” cutout kinda goes over the third brake light. I need to fully trim it out to go over the third brake light completely. I’ve been using them for years and I know the highly reflective surface really does its job well as it’s way cooler inside the car. I know a lot of people would just say to get the windows tinted but, I like the visibility while driving and letting the sunshine in while driving. That and the fact that when the window tint people use their cleaner on the back window, they’d make the rear defroster grid either mostly or completely useless and it breaks those imprinted grid lines. Ask me how I know. 😡
