Wiper blade change
Not that I'll be telling anyone here anything new, but I thought I would post anyway. I just used an online parts store to order a replacement wiper blade. Mine had been streaking the glass too much, so I needed new. I put in my registration number on the site, and a whole bunch of compatible blades came up. I ordered one, and got it this morning, a day later. Made by Michelin, looked nice, fitted perfectly, relatively cheap, but, and it only occurred to me after fitting, because it was too nice, with rubber shrouds, etc, it prevented the 6 nozzle spray wetting the wiper blade and the glass properly, when cleaning.
Ripped off all the rubber shrouds, that it came with, and I still didn't like it. Too wide, and still blocked the flow, somewhat. In the end, I went with removing the spring steel strips, on both the old and new, and re-mounting the new rubber blade itself, back onto the original Jaguar blade arm, and sliding back the spring steel. It's worked beautifully, and it's raining, so I've been out for a 20 minute test drive, and I can't believe what I had been putting up with, in terms of streaks. Ah, the delights of being able to see when driving, lol.
Knowing this now, I could have just got the replacement rubber and the spring steel strip packs that I've seen in the stores sometimes. Might be a better approach for doing this, unless your blade holder is stuffed and needs replacing anyway. In which case, do not trust those compatible product finder sites. Whilst they fit, they are not really compatible. Needs to be a sort of skeletal type, very skeletal, so as to not obstruct the flow at all.
Anyway, just thought I'd mention what I'd discovered today, even though it's probably already well known here.
Cheers

Hi everyone, a quick thanks to you all I’ve had the same issues in relation to getting replacement blades to fit my 1998XJ8Sport which don’t foul the washerjets and still actually make contact with the windscreen. I’ve taken your advice and just ordered a replacement Rubber from Rimmer Brothrs at just under £20 posted. Part Number GNB8961AA.
I just have to fit it once it arrives!!!
Take care Stay Safe Everyone Regards Dave👍😎🏴
