Default X308 2002 xjr loss of traction issues

Hi guys.. this continuing periodic fault where the transmission pulls a fault and you loose traction resulting in the need to pull over/switch off and wait to re-start. Q. could this be a TB (throttle body) issue? When I re-start and highly rev the engine it goes away. I've also experienced that when this faulty occurs I lift off the gas reducing my speed and bingo.. here comes the fault light again even when the car has been running for a while.
In the past I've noticed many owners in this forum trying all sorts of remedies to not much success - whats your thoughts?

Cheers, Trevor B

Hi Trevor,

I have moved your post from the Feedback & Suggestion Center to the forum for the X308.

Chasing these types of malfunctions is nearly impossible without scanning your car for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). A generic scan tool that can read the Powertrain codes would be the bare minimum, but a system that can read all the proprietary Jaguar DTCs would be better.

If you can have the car scanned and post all the DTCs here exactly as they appear, we'll try to help.

Cheers,

Don

How about a list of the fault code(s)....this directs where the issue is. Other than that, if your guessing, ..we're guessing. Kind of what Addicted is getting at.

I'm taking a guess here based on my learning experiences from over 20 years ago with my first XJR ... when you lose traction is the ABS/TRAC flashing yellow in the message center? If so, that's the traction control being activated because a wheel has lost traction. I've had that happen when driving over a manhole cover while accelerating, as well as the more obvious situations like wet roads. It took me a few times of this going on before I figured out it was working as advertised. Just let off the gas and regain traction, then continue on when the light quits flashing.
