Hi from Australia! I have a 1998 xjr and the cats shocks are stuck in hard mode with the suspension fault message, but no code on an obii code reader. The problem was intermittent for a long while but it's now permanent. It's like driving over rocks. The shocks would be original, so 21 years old, 200,000 kms.
Any suggestions welcome re fixing the problem or converting the shock mounts to non adaptive shocks.
I have figured out the front upper mounts can be replaced with the non adaptive type, but what about the rear mounts? Are they cats specific?
What replacement shocks suit this model best? The limited information on the net suggests the green Bilstein sports? The replacement cats shocks are just too expensive, and no guarantee the problem is not somewhere else.
The front cats connectors are fully seated, but I haven't accessed the rears.
