Xj 308
Hi I am new on here I have a 2002 jaguar xj308 3.2 se I am having trouble with the electrics on my car first the key fob started to fail gradually so I had it repaired but I still would not work so I replaced the security locking module and tried to program a new key fob but that failed now the windows will not work properly when I press the button for the back window on the driver door control panel the drivers window goes down sometimes the central locking works with the ignition key sometimes it does not I've replaced the driver door module and my obd scanner will not link up with the car now could someone help please
Hi Brian, can I suggest you disconnect the battery and hold the battery cables together to discharge capacitors to the memory modules.
Remove the new parts and reinstall the old. Then reinstall the freshly charged battery (they are very sensitive to voltage under 12.5V) and see if functions are still confused or non functioning, also see if OBD connects.
You have likely upset one or two systems on the canbus network, with scrambled memory. Some modules need specific manufacturer level diagnostics to reprogram, or at least year specific modules with the same program codes.
VCATS - this is a list located in the trunk's spare wheel well that has all modules fitted to the car, their part number and their program code, be 100% sure replacement parts match both numbers on the VCATS or you will get lots of issues.
