I am new to this forum and the Jaguar brand. Recently bought a 1997 XJ Sport, first registered October 1997. Engine plate indicate X300, however the car seems to be a X308 – oval indicators, new dash etc. See attached picture.Would appreciate any comments to identify the correct model and options.
It is both at the same time. The internals code is X308, which is only an updated X300. Jaguar had the X308 homologated as an X300 which it technically is...
The sticker with the X300 on it is the homologation and type approval sticker.
The X308 even in sport dress came with a V-8 the X300 sport came with a V-6 for the year 1997. Also the badges will rad XJ6, making it an X300. If V-8 and badging is XJ8 then it is an X308. No matter the similarities.
