I tried everywhere to find a proper W/shop manual for my 1998 XJ8. Haynes Manuals have never created one, and it was becoming a problem! After many hours searching, I came across someone who had exactly what I needed. Two and half thousand pages of text and pictures showing just about everything you will ever need, it covers:
3.2 & 4.0 ltr models, standard, supercharged, and all variants.

I got this file, added 'Contents' pages along with page numbers, then split the manual into 3 parts that fit nicely into 3 lever arch files. Next thing to do is add a 'search index' this will take me a few weeks (I have to do it when the boss is out) then it will be the ultimate tool for any XJ8 (308) DIY owners.
I will have it in .pdf, .doc, and .docx formats so it can be viewed on a computer as you work, or can be printed out (if you have a load of paper?).
Just PM me with which format you prefer, and I will send you my email addy to send you the file.

It won't cost a thing, as I got it free and reformatted it for my own use anyway but, please allow me a couple of weeks or so to finish the Indexing.

I am a new member here and really appreciate this kind of help. I downloaded your link for the electrical manual and it reads 1998....so the question is does this apply to all x308 Jags ? I have a 2002.

The 1998 will be helpful for most things but I am sure there were a good number of advances and changes made by 2002. I will look around my shop computer and see if I have a newer version and get back to you. If so I'll put it in my drop box.

I bought the workshop manual, wiring diagrams for all years and service notices on a CD-ROM off eBay for £3 with free postage. Best £3 I ever spent.

Oh my goodness... you are my hero!! I want to kiss you on the face right now!! I was looking everywhere for what you have just given me! I am one happy girl right now! There are so many "fake" manuals out there and none of them are cheap.. and also none of them is my car. This will cover the VDP also, right? Of course, I am sure it will! You are a wonderful generous paragon of a human being! Most of all .. Thank you Thank You, THANK YOU! Now, you wouldn't happen to have a pdf of the owner's manuals which include the sound system and phone manual? (a girl can dream) I am trying just to understand how the whole thing works. I want to be able to use my cell phone through the car.. (is that possible? probably not since there is not Bluetooth adaptability) But it would be nice to know if there are speakers and microphone already installed (probably not either ) I am new to this ownership of a large feline

 

There is nothing about the radio or phone in the Owner's Manual. The closest to X308 radio manual that I could find is for the 2003 X-Type which is probably usable to a considerable extent. I have attached the said manual together with other documents that I have related to the radio, MP player connection and telephone.
