Hey all, I have a newly aquired 2001 XJ8 and I'm just realizing the rear passenger door will not lock using the door key or the lock button on the dash. When I manually set the lock it will unlock using both methods. Also, I'm presently working on sourcing the missing key fob and a spare key. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

 

had this with my xjr, I took off the door trim and it was the boomerang shaped link that connects the button to the lock, there is a pivot at its centre that needed a little grease. a simple job that was completed inside an hour including cups of tea.

 

You can find a Key Fob on Ebay for under $50. The key is $150 at a Jaguar dealership.
Not many other people can make one. You can program the remote yourself. Same with the built in Garage door openers. The forum has a thread on how to do that.

 

Thank you both, have ordered the fob and programmed the garage door opener and will attempt to dissect the door tomorrow without damaging it. I'll do a wee bit more searching before I part with $150 for the key.

 

be careful not to snap the snowflake clips on the door car, they are replaceable but still still be cautious
