xj8 engine swap 3.2 to 4.0 SC
Hi, do any of you guys know if there is a parts list available for swapping out the engine and trans in a 1998 XJ8,
It has the original 3.2 litre engine, it's getting a bit tired at over 100,000 mile.
The ideal choice is a 4.0 supercharged
a few other questions - are the transmissions the same -
will I need a new wiring harness
What Control modules will I need
Help - has anyone done one of these conversions

Transmissions are different. ZF on a NA cars, Mercedes 4spd on a SC.
Basically you'll need a harness from XJR and ALL of the modules, fuel tank with two fuel pumps and so on.
It'll be easier to swap for a 4.0 or 4.2 engine.

Thank you - 4.0 litre it will be with trans

Seems strange that Jag were owned by Ford (half of my car is left over Ford Parts) and they needed to buy Trannies from Merc, what does that tell you about the quality of Ford running gear

This thread is seven years old and I don't think the OP is around now. To make that swap you would need to do both engine and transmission, several modules and wiring harness. Much easier and probably much less expensive to buy a XJR
