Default XJ8 keyhole light?

Hi all, I couldy find a thread for this so hopefully I’m not duplicating.
I have a 1999 Sovereign XJ8, UK spec LWB version.
I’m trying to ascertain as to whether this model has ignition keyhole illumination or not. It would seem unlikely not to have it given it’s a luxury vehicle.
I’d appreciate words of wisdom from those in the know. Cheers

No. I've had columns apart and it isn't an illuminated part. It consists of a security ring that looks for the correct key to start the car.

Tou may notice that the interior light stays on for a while after you enter the car.
Jaguar engineers probably thought that was sufficient for you to find where to put
the key.

Default Keyhole light?

Hi, thank you for your reply. It’s a bit disappointing that a prestige vehicle leaves you in the dark, fumbling to find the afore mentioned orifice!

Yours has no interior light that comes on when you open the door?
Maybe you just need to replace a bulb. We simply can not have you
fumbling in the dark.

Default Fumbling in the dark

Thank you for your concern. All interior lights function normally. Unfortunately none of them overcome the black hole that exists on the right hand side of the steering column of the RHD iteration of this magnificent example of the marque.
I have, in my time been a vehicle based, semi-professional, illumination challenged scenario fumbler. Many can attest to my skills in this area of expertise although, strangely, not fully appreciated by most.
I shall persevere in my quest for enlightenment. Light a candle for me.
🙏🏻

Default Fumbling

“Accomplice” is the term that the judge used.

Guilty as charged, your honor! Or, she said she was 18! At my age, light as many candles as you can.
