Default XJ8 Self Starter compression test

Can anyone tell me where to hook up the two wires of a remote starter, i'm going to do a compression check and I would just like to make sure that the connection are correct.

Relieve the fuel pressure at the test port (use a test hose to direct the fuel into a container) and remove the fuel pump relay which is in the trunk. That will eliminate any fuel to the cylinders. Then you can crank the engine with the ignition key. Look for all compression readings to be within 25% of each other. Harbor Freight has a fuel pressure test kit for $20 and a compression test kit for $25.

Seriously, you couldn't wait nine more days so this thread would be exactly ten years old?

It wasn't exactly a thread, was it? More like a member who posted asking for help, but received no replies until stu46h came along with his helpful attitude. At least future readers will have the benefit of his reply.

Thanks, stu46h!

Cheers,

Don

You need to access the back of the starter and disconnect the thinner of the wires from it (the thinner stud). Then move out the rubber boot from the thick cable connection (thick stud) and connect the remote starter to the two studs, thin and thick. Be careful not to cause a short, the thick stud has permanent +12V on it.
