Listen for the fuel pump to turn on for 3 - 5 seconds then back off as you have the key in the run position only . It will turn back on after the ECU sees rotation . If the pump does not turn on you can jumper power to the relay power side out socket from the B + terminal on the battery . This would put power directly on the pump . Use a blade type connector on the relay socket as this is high current arcing hazard to the socket and the last contact on the battery . There is a relay and a fuse located electrically after the relay . The relay my be pitted on the power half contact not allowing enough current to drive the pump . You only have a # 1 fuel pump on a non = supercharged engine . You can swap relays with Jaguar # LJA6703AA superceeded by ↳ C2P11192 found at the local auto parts store same as /

+ accessory socket
+ air conditioning
+ fuel pump
+ ignition/engine
+ ignition/heelboard
+ powerwash
+ seat heater
+ Other Option
+ Rear parking aid

You can try the fuse and relay before rolling across the shop door and be charged .

Something still funky about your electrical supply . The auto part store will test the alternator for free as they want to sell you the repair parts .

It never missed a start before it did this, sometimes it would rev up a little bit higher (just past 1k) if it was cold or sat for a day or two but this happened suddenly.

Would I be getting any RPM at all if it was a bad starter or solenoid?

Something else I'm wondering, could it be something with fuel system or the gas that I put in? When this happened, it was almost out, put a little bit in (1/2 a tank) of the same gas that I always get (91 at Shell)

Respectfully your all over the map.
The car doesn't start correct?
The car ran high rpm WHEN IT STARTED CORRECT?
Its not starting now correct?
If so please don't crank it, get the mechanic to check the chains and tensioners. You keep cranking and the valves will all bend into the pistons, your toast.
Good luck

I agree with Gtjoey's advice , better safe then sorry as this AJ26/27 is a interference engine and mechanical damage can be done

Sometimes on a cold start the RPMs would go up a little bit, but nothing too out of the ordinary. No issues once it was running.

I will definitely have the mechanic check the chains.

Update

Shop told me that the bellhousing, starter, and transmission were not bolted on properly from a previous job, and the starter had come loose. This might also explain the rumbling at stops that I was feeling.

I asked if I should order a new starter and they told me to wait, it might not be necessary. It will be in the shop at least a couple more days, I'm gonna have them look at the chains and tensioner too and hopefully get them replaced soon.

What surprised me is how the first oil change and inspection I had done on it (back in December) - same place that said that my alternator is fine - missed this, I also told them to see what they think of the rumbling and they told me that they didn't notice any when they took it out.
