Although, I would be inclined to swap the gearbox ECM as i think it's all down to shift points within the box controlled by the ECM.
Sorry to disagree with XJay, but I'd keep the original TCM just plug the connector in. The trans are the same, (4.0L) but I've never done the swap so can't tell you if the mountings are the same - maybe post it in the XK8 forum?

found another for the xj8. it dont look as good but it has warrenty. cant wait and put off another day waiting for response there. time to get this car back on the road, hopefully no more delays and issues now.
ALL XJ/XK 4.0 NA ZF 5HP24 gearboxes will interchange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only part I have never tried to interchange between AJ26 and AJ27 are the rotary switches on the selector shaft on the right side of the gearbox. I use the one that was on the car originally.
The engines if kept AJ26 to AJ26 and AJ27 to AJ27, gearboxes (does not matter what year) will ALL interchange. You need to keep the original control modules in the car!!!!!!
