XJR cruise control failed

XJR cruise control failed

When I try to use the cruise control the operation light comes on but as soon as the engine demands throttle the system fails and the 'engine safe mode' warning come on. I have checked the electrical connections at the throttle body and all seems to be OK. Has anyone any advice? Is there a common fault that I am not aware of?

the common failures are throttle bodies and brake switches, need to have codes pulled to see what you have

Check your brake lights - while the "engine safe mode" light is on. If they don't work in that instance, replace the brake light switch. My XJR acted as you describe - all was well unless I had the cruise control operating, and then touched the brakes. Simple to replace the brake light switch (on underside of steering column) if that is the problem.
