XJR eclectic fault
Hello I’m hoping someone may know what’s the issue..
my 1999 xjr has an ongoing issue, odd occasions when I unlock and prepare to start the car and engaging the key to first position all lights and everything will cut out as though the battery is dead. The only indication of power is the little red light flashing next to my gear stick. I can leave to car anywhere between 5 minutes to a day before it’ll kick back into power and all electrics will come back on. I’ve had my local jag garage look at it and they bought it was the relays or a fuse, which I’ve consequently had all replaced . Be it hot or cold weather had no difference on it
hoping someone else has had this issue as it ruining the joy I had driving it.
Many thanks,
Louis

I guess you mean key in the second position, i.e. ignition "on". When all the lights cut-out, keep the key in position and try wiggling the battery cables (the spare tyre removed). If this brings the power on, the problem is there; usually in the cable crimps. If this does not make any change, open the master fuses black box (to which the positive battery cable is connected) and try wiggling the fuses a bit. If this brings the power back, remove and clean the fuse terminals and seats ant tighten them back. Be careful not to overtighten the nuts as the bolt heads are sitting in plastic.
