Any tips on getting this routed up to the valve cover from below the intercooler and blower? The first pic is feeding the tube front to back with the throttle body T encountering obstacles. The second pic is feeding the tube back to front, which is the reverse of how I removed the original. You'll see the valve cover fitting hitting the blower casting on the left, the intercooler casting on the right and a coolant casting forward. I manipulated the fitting to get it as vertical as possible but still no luck. It's almost there but I don't want to force anything and compromise the new tube. This is the area where the tube runs on my wife's XJR, and I don't see any other routing possibilities. Thoughts from anyone who's done this will be appreciated.
Anxious to get the beast back on the road so pushed forward and got the fitting through the obstacles without incident. Fortunately fresh plastic is a bit more compliant than plastic that's been cooked for years.
Glad you got it done. For anyone who might come across this thread down the road, here is an alternative: I didn't run mine under the intercooler. I ran it alongside the intercooler, behind the cam cover. The angle of the tube at the throttle body was more sharp, but there was plenty of tube to where it wasn't threatening to kink in any way. It worked great for me, and unless you KNOW that the tube shouldn't be there, you'd never know it.
One other tip: did you clean out the port in the cam cover? It will get blocked from buildup in the tiny passage, and you're supposed to clean it out with a drill bit that you hold in your hand (not in a drill), and gently twist it down in there a few times to clean it out. Use an impact bit or put a small vice grip on the drill bit so you don't accidentally drop it down inside.
Edit: I don't remember the size of bit you're supposed to use, but someone here will know.

3/32 drill bit to clean out the LH cam cover port. Just did it this morning on mine. Just give it a few twists and should be good to go. Since mine is off the car I blew through it to make sure it was all clear.. I've heard when this clogs the excess pressure can cause the cam cover gaskets to leak prematurely so definitely a good idea to clean it out.
I had seen the threads and did clean the port - no evidence of buildup. It's amazing to me how clean these engines run despite the mileage they accumulate - this one has about 80k. When I replaced the chains and tensioners around 70k the valve train looked new. Thanks.
