Default XJR R1 & XJR 100 Wheel Options

What are the smallest wheels that would fit over the gigantic brakes an R1 or 100? What would be the best winter tire/wheel options for these cars?
I'm looking at an XJR 100 and may have to drive it for a portion of the winter and am having difficulty finding any appropriate options.

You need 18's minimum, and even then, not all 18's are created equal. The calipers are quite large, so you need wheels which have spokes very close to the front face of the wheel.
This is why most people stick with the R option wheels. None of the 'standard' wheels will fit, even the 18's from an XJR, and a lot of aftermarket ones won't work either.

Of course, you could just use spacers...

As grandell mentions the BBS type, Milan Montreal etc are sought after. You can look at the XK market also, but second sets aren't cheap when tires go on, try and buy with decent tires would be my suggestion.

Most Corvette wheels will work. For instance, I'm running C6 Grand Sport 18x9.5" wheel all the way around on my 2000 XJR. Plenty of diametral clearance and spoke clearance for the caliper. I'd imagine things like any of the factory 18" C5 or C6 wheels would fit with little effort, and they are CHEAP. For instance, you can usually find the plain 5 spoke that came on the base c5 for like $50 a wheel, and they aren't horrible wheel, being a little wider than the jag wheels, and lighter than any of the BBS Jag wheels, which are surprisingly heavy. About the only hiccup is that the Jag uses a very large 72.8 mm hub, so you have to expand the center bore of Vette wheels to 73mm at a machine shop. Oh, and Vette wheels use taper nuts instead of the Jags cannon nuts, so you have to buy some new lug nuts. But its a very cheap and reasonably attractive option for wheels with plenty of clearance for a 14" Brembo setup that are in the proper 5x120.65 bolt pattern.

Corvette is a 25% lighter sports car that benefits from light wheels not 1.8 ton saloon.

Saying that if they can be bought cheap then it's a great option for winter driving.

And everything benefits from lighter wheels. It's all unsprung, rotational mass. Less unsprung weight means better ride, better handling, better braking, everything. Lightweight wheels are one of the single best things you can do to any car, bar none.
