Oh dear, that is truly unfortunate, and definitely makes it a priority!

Good thread!

I’ve had my car more than five years now and other than doing some things the previous/original owner neglected, my ‘02 XJR has been remarkably reliable. So my to-do list isn’t too long:

1. Replace dash lights. One bulb has gone out. (Does anyone know what bulbs I need to order to replace the four smaller bulbs? I searched this forum and found the four larger bulbs but couldn’t find the answer on the smaller bulbs.)

2. I have a slight clunk on acceleration and deceleration and I think I have a rear transmission mount that needs replacing.

3. Work on touching up some road rash on the front paint with Dr, Color Chip paint.

4. My chrome wheels are 17 years old and starting to pit so I may have them rechromed. This is probably my lowest priority. Maybe it’ll be a 2020 project.

I'm adding the replacement of the "under-the-intake-manifold" heater hoses to my 2019 list.

It will make replacing the thermostat tower easier, and should be a good preventative maintenance measure.

Many thanks to blackonyx for his tutorial, and to Ericjanson for re-posting it

Picked up a new noise in the driver side rear, it's relative to road condition & presents as a slight knock on bumpy roads. All shocks & rubbers are fairly new w/ under 2,500 miles, differential serviced & wheel bearings replaced. Thinking it maybe a sub-frame bushing, the noise isn't egregious or anything but now that I know it's there it has to go lol. I'll try to get audio/video of it posted soon.

In no particular order,

Steering wheel upgrade to the half wood unit, due to be done this week
Brake calipers either painted or covered
Upgrading head & fog lights to the brightest halogen available & cleaning inside the housing
Deep cleansing, conditioning & dye refurbishing of the seats
Wood panels restored
Full paint job, it currently looks good but me knowing where I had previous paint work makes it stand out in my mind's eye. So even if no one else notices, it has to go lol.
Paint due March 1st possibly one week earlier. Also picked up a mint condition chrome front bumper splitter/vane, going to have it installed w/ the paint.

It says you ordered MGP caliper covers. I can’t see where the x308 is available as an option on their website. I have a 1998 XJR. How did you find which ones to order? Thanks....

The XK8 305 mm rotor set-up is offered & the same for my base X308 so I ordered that.

XJ8 = 305MM BY 28MM Width

XJR none Brembo = 325MM BY 30MM Width

XJR Brembo = 355MM BY 32MM Width
You can contact them with your measurements & they will steer you to the correct fit.

So in 2019 I have replaced the trunk struts, and for good measure the hood struts too, I replaced those hard-to-get-to heater hoses and associated 3-way connector, and replaced the original plastic thermostat housing with a metal one.

That, dare I say it, reduces my to-do list to pretty much zero. So, touch wood, I am in the happy position of having nothing to do on my to-do list .

Better be careful ... that exact situation end of last year ended with me buying the XK8, finding me again struggling each and every day ...

Yeah, I know, it's dangerous to tempt fate in such a way! Gonna have to wait and see what retribution I get for such audacity!

After weeks of waiting MGP sent me the incorrect caliper covers, they have been super responsive in rectifying it. Not sure I want to put baby blue Mercedes Benz labeled covers on lol.

On a positive note, I'm 2 weeks into the 3 week paint timeline, really anticipating the outcome !

Nice w/ mine in paint I discovered my rear bumper cover was heavily repaired w/ Bondo so I found an OEM refurbished unit primed & ready for paint.

Getting bonnet resprayed and fashioning some bonnet louvres style-based on X100 XKR but squarer

Rear Boot Lip from Mina Gallery- hope its delivered soon...

Wheel bearings and axle U joints at the hub joint to be changed

Brembo big brakes to be fitted, got both earlier and later style- not sure which to fit yet

New upper pulley ratio and belt for S/C to be fitted- lets see if we cant better last years strip time

Bore out of the stock throttle body

Working with a supplier to get fully adjustable dampers- for bump and rebound made to my specs

Get the Springs front and rear of an E39 BMW M5 tested for rates
Get the springs for my jag tested for rates- from all of this - will determine my new wheel rates that will meet my ride/handing requirements

Post pics/info pre-install & afterwards on the quality etc. I've been debating on ordering it from them.
