Default ZF5HP24 Transmission rebuild

x308 Sovereign 4.0 1999,

Has anyone gone through the process of rebuilding the Transmission ZF5HP24?
I plan to give it out to a specialist, but need to make sure that “all out if gets rebuilt” and not just some parts.

So is there a checklist of the various parts/kits that should be attended to and rebuilt?
Just want to make sure it gets done once correctly.

advice appreciated
Peter

I think there's new rebuilding kits for the zf5hp24 from zf or sonax can't remember. Some rebuild the filling it with wrong fluid type stick with fluid that meet lt71141 specs

Pete, most interested in your responses or options, mine is the 97 XK8 and locked in top, suspect a major overhaul.
If I hear anything this end Qld, will let you know

Update is found time to instal a hoist and removed the pan, no metal or contamination found?
Any areas to look harder at before removal to find a real fault
I am starting to think the Tranny Control Module is over riding due to a error code
Any codes folks out there may have seen in the past and cured this Locked in top problem??

I have never overhaule these boxes myself. But I have been to a workshop by a Jaguar X308 independent specialist here in the Netherlands who specialises in doing this. During the workshop he actually takes a box apart as you watch. Pretty cool and it gives some idea on what is involved.

Have a look here:
