My 1988 xj6 Climate control will not work at all. No matter what button I push the fans do not turn on. The only thing that works is the backlight and the light on the rear window heater. I checked both fuses and they seem good. Any ideas what the problem is?

 

Does A/C compressor kick in ? Your best bet is you need freon to charge the system . I hope it's that as simple as a recharching freon
Otherwise you may need a new compressor

 

No it does not. Nor does the heater or blowers. Nothing seems to turn on

 

The fault is a common one and you need a new micro-switch or a replacement panel (salvage)

Here is a very old TSB for the repair procedure.
I have done this repair DOZENS of times and I keep a micro-switch and #2-56 screws in stock for the few that I actual see anymore.

I actually did this repair several months ago and I found my 'stash' of switches and screws.
