Only happens when the car is off. The lights flash on and off, you can hear a click each time.

I just disconnect the battery once I get out (which is getting old) I couldn't find any Info online.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for a fix?

Have you seen this before?

our sidelights don't flash unless you modify them.

After a little reading it seems my car would fall into the XJ40 category.? The guy I bought it from had XJ6 listed on the paperwork. The WHAT XJ6 DO I HAVE was really informative, I'm new to Jaguars and first time posting on a forum site. I appreciate the heads up.

You need to press your remote keyfob transmitter 5 times ( or a combination of remotes 5 times) to get the security system to stop 'wanting' the keyfob configuration.

Hi guys,

So every time when the vehicle off,..

The license plate, glove compartment, and all of the marker (front/rear, sides) lights will flash in unison
A beep is heard inside the car on the drivers side, it sounds close to the ground. (the beep is synced the flashes)

Once I start the vehicle they turn off... The vehicles back to normal.

Could this have something to do with the alarm system? I recall reading about how your suppose to press the key fob when it beeps? )I DO NOT HAVE A KEY FOB. Fuses are fine

what do you mean a combination of remotes?

i don't have the fob, to get one would I have to go to a dealership or locksmith? Is it expensive?

 

combination = if you have more than one, (you don't so doesn't apply)

Dealer won't have one, locksmith either. Best bet, eBay - but beware, expensive and remotes changed type of signal on later XJ40's. Those universal remotes are set up for the later signal and only work with 93 and 94 models.

Sometimes wrecking yards have them, you can call around local pick-and-pulls and ask if they have one. Ask for XJ6 though, as they won't know what an XJ40 is.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but remotes are hard to find - however - if all else fails, locate your local Jaguar owner's club and borrow one to do the 5 presses to stop the flashing then just get along without one.

I used to keep a keyfob transmitter in my toolbox to stop the beeping/flashing when I reconnected the battery after repairs to XJ40s (with no customer transmitter).
