1990 Jaguar XJ6

Hi: Just lately I have the transmission trouble light staying on. Also it thumps into reverse from Park and also seems to not shift into overdrive at highway speeds. Any help will be appreciated,

You should post this in the right forum, but I’ll start with the obvious:

What is the condition of the transmission fluid. Is it at the right level and is it a nice cherry red color?

This could just be the car telling you that this critical fluid needs to be replaced.

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XJ40 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

I also added vehicle details to your forum signature so you can use the thread title for the topic of the question in future. For example, instead of 1990 XJ6 the title Transmission light staying on would attract attention to the issue.
