1990 VDP XJ6- Dead instrument panel
Hello,
My instrument panel died a few days ago and it does not appear to be fuse related. All fuses related to the instrment panel have been checked and look good. I do notice that when the car is running and a fuse is removed, the needles stop shaking/jiggling and hit the zero position. When the fuse is replaced the gauges wiggle a little but do not function. Any ideas of what I should check next?

Firstly you have an XJ40, congratulations.
You have posted in the wrong area, check the dates under the headings, it will make answers etc much quicker.
One of our ever friendly Mods will move this to the correct area, which will definately get you more responses.
My thoughts, based on what you say, is that you have a BAD earth. A common XJ40 issue. No idea where, but I would bet somewhere nearby the instrument pack.
Maybe even the MAIN engine earth wire/s have failed/gotten grubby/whatever and that will reek havoc.

IT PROVES YOU ARE HUMAN.
Enjoy the Jag, and the stay, it WILL be long and FUN, trust me.
I am coming up on 43 years with these beasts, and NO sign of brand change yet, although a very tidy Bentley Turbo R has caught my eye, mmmmmm, nice daily driver me thinks.
