Default 93 XJ6 - I need the part #'s for the alternator rectifier and regulator

Could someone please give me the part numbers for these items and perhaps a place to buy them?

Hi supra-raleigh,

Have you had your electrical system tested and did the results point to a problem with the rectifier/regulator?

To answer your question about what a rectifier does vs. a regulator the the simple terms in which I understand their operation, a rectifier converts the alternating current (AC) from the alternator into the direct current (DC) required by the battery and the car's electrical system.

A regulator works to maintain the system voltage within a suitable operating range and to prevent too much voltage from being delivered to the battery or other system components.

Often, the rectifier and regulator are built into one module that is housed inside the alternator case, which I believe is the case with the late XJ40 120 amp alternator.

Unfortunately, Jaguar only lists a complete alternator for the late 4.0L cars, part DBC6819. They list a separate rectifier for the late 6.0L (12-cylinder) cars, part JLM11147, and they list separate regulators for the 3.2L cars, part JLM11144 and 6.0L cars, part JLM11145. I can't recall off the top of my head, but I believe the 120 amp alternator in the late XJ40 is either a Denso or Bosch unit, so a good alternator shop may be able to source a replacement regulator/rectifier module, or check with the reputable independent Jag parts suppliers such as forum sponsors SNG Barratt and Jagbits; Coventry West and Welsh Enterprises are also good. It may also be worth checking with Rock Auto and Parts Geek, and as always eBay can be helpful in your research.

You can download the Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) from this forum, which allows you to look up part numbers on your own computer, or you can search part numbers at Genuine Jaguar Parts and Jaguar Accessories for classic Jaguars from Jaguar Heritage Parts UK, the parts service of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.

Cheers,

Don

Default Badges? We don't need no stinking badges! No I really do! Part # please

Thanks Don.
On the 93 XJ6, I cannot seem to determine the part number for the fender badge (the leaper on the passenger side). The ones on ebay look similar for various years. Could someone please chime in. Thanks
