Default abs and brake warning...

Had to hit the brakes a bit harder than normal....I went past the point of usual resistance to new territory on the pedal. Thankfully the car stopped as there was a guy actually running out inn front of me with a stop sign. Im sure they are not supposed to do that.

Now with braking the its the same pedal as before but the abs warning , and the brake light are on. Bit concerned about how she might perform in an emergency stop. Replaced the brake accumulator ball few years ago with a mercedes one.

Be interested in advice from the group as to next step. Fluid level is fine. The brake pump (i think its called) is running but it has a deeper sound and does not turn off after little while like it used to.

Replaced the accumulator ball with a gm one, screwed straight in , warning lights out, sharp brakes working beautifully. ....bit of driving and overnight situation lost all power assistance....huge pressure needed to make the brakes work even a bit.

Caannot hear brake pump with its usual whirring sound. At all.
Can hear a click when I turn the ignition to on (no starter)

Any thoughts on what the problem could be here , most likely, and how to fix it? Mick
