Hi guys,
I've just purchased a second hand ABS pressure pump with accumulator from a Jaguar. The problem is that I'm missing the plastic tubing in the pictures.
Is there a way to remove the old one (located on my old pump (rusty one ofc)) and use it on my "new" pump? I removed the spall metal pin but I can't manage to remove the black plastic tube from the old pump.
If it's not possible to change I need to return the pump and buy another one... :/
That type of fitting is not designed to be removed. They are usually able to swivel, but when inserted there is a metal ring with teeth that are angled to compress slightly and spring back when home so pretty much impossible to remove without destroying the plastic part.
I had the same type of fitting break on a Mercedes intake manifold. I repaired the manifold by removing the part and tapping a thread into the housing and fitting a brass elbow in it's place.
Hi Lawrence!
Thank you so much for your answer!
That might be an option for me as well, but I have never worked whith these pumps before.. just two questions
1. Do I need to remove some more in the "new" pump to make room for tapping a thread and the brass fitting? (like the round red thing for example)
2. I guess it must have been a shallow brass fitting, since there is not much room to make a thread in there.. you dont happen to have a picture or something?
Sorry no, we were fitting a new intake manifold to a Mercedes 350 and one of these fittings snapped during delivery. I have no experience with the ABS pump I'm afraid so no clue as to depth of aperture ...the one we repaired was deep enough to get a small L threaded in. If you can figure out the name of those plastic fittings it might be possible to get a replacement from Amazon or AliExpress ..just have to google the right words and maybe some would show up ...
Okay! thats unfortunate. I'm thinking of going to a store where they do hoses and connections and stuff and see if they can help me out perhaps!
Otherwise I might return this pump and buy another one (x4 the price of this one) that is complete.
